Michael Cashmore

One of the aims of this blog is to share with you the amazing museums and art galleries that I have visited and again give you my take on what`s good and maybe not so good !

This blog is also a vehicle to introduce you to Artists that you may not be aware of.

So here we go, my first featured Artist.

In 2007 I was introduced to a UK based Water Colourist – Michael Cashmore. With the design skills from Pure Azure a superb web site was created which shows cases`s Michael`s paintings.

Michael Cashmore Biography

I am a water colourist whose main passion lies in creating architectural drawings, landscapes and seascapes.

My paintings and line drawings are created from either a photograph or by working from the location itself.

I started my journey into the arts at the early age of five. Though my educational path took me off into the world of architecture rather than to Art College,my professional training is very much reflected in the style of my paintings.

Over the years I have experimented with various media and styles, and my progression evolved into the challenge of watercolour,as it most effectively creates the movement and mood within my artworks.

I am currently based in Dorset, and having lived in both Gloucestershire and Hampshire,I have gained an appreciation of buildings, the countryside and the coast,as these counties have offered me a vast amount of subject matter for my portfolio.

Commissions and limited editions are available on request and I would be happy to discuss your individual requirements with you.

Amazing Amsterdam

I have never quite understood why Paris is perceived to be such a romantic city, against the likes of Amsterdam.

The historic canals segmenting the city, with quaint bridges enabling easy passage for all, creating a wonderful picturesque and very unique location. Amsterdam is a haven for tourist`s,in fact over 4.2 million people visit annually.  Is it the Rijksmuseum,or the Van Gogh Museum that draws people to this amazing and exciting city.Or may be the history which has touched our lives from the true and inspirational story of Anne Frank.

Perhaps it is still the appeal of the `Red light district` which in most cities is hidden away from the main public areas.  In Amsterdam the walk through to this district has the most eclectic mix of small streets and tiny bars, often no bigger than a sitting room in a cosy cottage. The smell of cannabis still quite evident in the mixture of thick cigarette smoke. An interesting experiance.

The flower Market with its array of  Tulips, with colours covering the full spectrum of the rainbow again has to be experienced. I defy any one not to come home with at least one bag of bulbs.Trust me buying just one bag will be very  difficult with all the choices available.

Hotels in Amsterdam are plentiful and range from ultra expensive to cheap and quirky. When we arrived at ours, I have to say eyebrows were raised and for once we thought our planning had gone a drift, but apart from needing oxygen to climb the stairs.  (No lifts in this traditional dutch slim style building, so glad we were on the first floor)  The hotel was in fact very clean and comfortable and ideally located on the main road off the central railway station. Great location and easy walk to all areas of the city. Also near the best Fries and Mayonnaise you can buy.

The city of Amsterdam is also the financial and cultural capital of the Netherlands, where many large Dutch institutions have their headquarters there, and 7 of the world’s top 500 companies, including Philips and ING,are based in the city.Unlike some of its european counterparts the prominent business. The Amsterdam Stock Exchange, part of Euronext, is also located in the city centre.

A  break to Amsterdam is a must, but I fear just like our visit a few days is not enough.

Perhaps this is a Dutch Marketing Master Plan. Very cunning and it works. I  can`t  wait to return

My Posh Pictures

Welcome to MyPosh Pictures blog site.

When I started to create this  blog I thought about themes and niches and went round and round in circles trying to decide what to choose.
Then I had a euerka moment !

Over many years I have been fortunate to travel and visited many fantastic countries and cities, experienced different cultures, visited amazing churches, castles, museums.
The list is just endless.

So what I thought I would create was a blog which took you on my journey. It will be a collection of my muses, not copy pinched from a travel magazine. That would be far to easy.

What would be fantastic is that after you have read one of my posts it inspires you to go off and visit the country, the building or even a web site that I have just described.

All of my ramblings will be backed up by an eclectic mixture of My Posh Pictures .
Yes you have guessed it…… That`s where I got a bit creative with my title. Well what do you expect from a Marketeer!

I hope you enjoy.
